What Was I Thinking…

Saturday, December 30th, 2006

As some of you may know, one of my long term goals is to do the Hawaii Ironman before I’m 40—by this I mean complete not actually win, lol. However, up until now I haven’t done anything really to work towards this, so in a bout of complete insanity I have entered in my first triathlon.

It’s the 7th race in the New Zealand Triathlon Series held at Whangamata Surf Club on the 17th of March. This gives me about 10 weeks to train for the sprint distance event (750m swim, 20km bike, 5km run). While this is a short course as far as triathlons go, it’s somewhat ambitious for me since the last time i was on a bike was almost 10 years ago and my swimming is… hmmm, in need of a little work, lol.

The New Zealand Triathlon site fortunately provides a downloadable training program for people like myself who are foolish enough to enter, so I’ve got some idea what I should be doing. As of yesterday I now have a bike, and am currently working on improving all three disciplines for the big event!

Christmas 2006

Tuesday, December 26th, 2006

After somewhat wet weather yesterday it was warm and sunny for a change today. Christmas this year was quite good due to the careful dropping of hints (and product catalog numbers, lol) on my part.

On the other side of the equation, I gave my brother a sick Tony Hawk Birdhouse complete skateboard. This is his first skateboard and let’s just say teaching a seven year old to skate requires a lot of patience, especially since he’d been up past midnight the night before!

The Best Part Of Breaking Up

Friday, December 15th, 2006

It’s been a busy week, weeks actually, especially considering the length of time this post has been sitting in the saved drafts folder. While, the title might suggest otherwise this post isn’t actually about relationships, personal ones at least.

I’ve recently hired someone to help with my business, and I’ll be the first to say I’ve waited far too long. Partly [ok almost completely] because I didn’t want to give up control of things, as they say, “if you want it done right, do it yourself”… However, this is changing and I’m learning the joy of delegation and also letting people figure how to go about doing the work. I’m trying my best to put the skills I learnt during the October management course to good use, and so far things have been going really well.

The best part of breaking up? …Letting go, and it’s a good feeling.

Thought Of The Day…

I wish Italian had a direct translation of “nice” in English, so I wouldn’t have to figure out which “nice” I mean all the time, especially because the reason I’m usually using “nice” in the first place is because I didn’t want to use a more descriptive word!!… ug.
